The commissioning of the systems manufactured by R&D Company Promelectronica on Marelisi Station in Georgia has been concluded. Now the station and adjacent sections are controlled by MPC- I Electronic interlocking system with full redundancy, ESSO-M Axle counting system and MPB Semi-automatic block system.
The station is fitted with UKC Interlocking controllers with hot standby capability, which control 12 points and 19 light signals. SGP-MS-15T Uninterruptable power supply system powers all the MPC-I components, as well as ensures autonomous operation of the whole station for 24 hours. The station is now operated by ARM DSP Station Master Terminal and ARM ShN Electrician Terminal. Section clearance is controlled by ESSO-M Axle counting system, totaling to 25 counting posts. Lines with adjacent stations are fitted with MPB Electronic semi-automatic block system. All tower equipment is allocated in the mobile equipment modules provided by the general contractor.
The Marelisi Station is located on the Khashuri – Zestafoni Line. The section belongs to Surami Pass. Due to adverse terrain, only one train at a time can move through the line.
The Surami Pass is a part of the Likhi Range, which divides the Greater and the Lesser Caucasus. The first railroad in the region was built in 1872. In some places the road grade reached up to 46 ‰.
